Seaview teams defeated

Seaview Little League saw its postseason run come to an end when two of its All-Star teams were eliminated in Section 10 tournament play last weekend.

In the 11/10 Division, Seaview fell behind early in both of its games and lost to Lake Forest of District 55, 10-2, and 10-0 to Long Beach (District 38) at the Laguna Hills Sports Complex.

The section tournament marked the farthest a Seaview 10/11 team had advanced in All-Star competition.

In the 9/10 Division, Seaview lost a pair of nail biters, falling to District 55, 3-1, and on Monday, fell 3-2 to Long Beach (District 38), the latter game being decided in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Both Seaview teams had entered the Section 10 tournament without a loss in All-Star competition — a first for the league.

Seaview went undefeated in the district tournament to win the banner. En route to the title, Manager Cory Bersch’s squad routed Fountain Valley (19-2), in two meetings against Costa Mesa National, slipped by with a 9-8 win in the first game and then won a 3-0 shutout in the second, then capped its tournament run by rallying past Ocean View, 6-4.

During the tournament, Seaview was led on the mound by Robby Pickell, Adam Moses, Jordan Stuart and Dylan Sneed. Pickell threw two complete games and allowed just two runs. In the district final, Stuart, in a relief role, sent Ocean View down in order in the sixth to clinch the title.

Defensively, shortstop Garret Wong was in on two double plays and catcher Aaron Satterfield caught 24 innings and was in on a double play.

“We played our game and stuck to our game plan,” Manager Cory Bersch said.
