The city of Huntington Beach recently honored two Marina High School students — Stephanie Lucas and Tyler Briscoe — with the Youth Character Award at a City Council meeting June 11. In cooperation with the national Character Counts Coalition, the award is given to students who show outstanding character.
Lucas was editor of Marina’s newspaper, student representative to the HBUSD Board and Education Foundation, participated in Model United Nations, and will be attending UCLA.
Briscoe, a junior, provided a grove of shade trees for the Village View Elementary School through his recent Eagle Scout project, teaches orphans in Mexico through his church, and is senior patrol leader to Scout Troop 558.
