Man shot accidentally while negotiating gun sale

A young man was accidentally shot at a party Friday night in Costa Mesa during gun sale negotiations.

Santa Ana resident Marcos Sanchez, 19, was shot while trying to negotiate a gun sale of a pistol, Costa Mesa Police said.

Sanchez was looking at the pistol when it discharged, and he was struck in the thigh and the foot, police said.

Costa Mesa police interviewed Sanchez at the Coast Community Hospital, and no charges have been filed, Watch Commander Dale Birney said.

The owner of the pistol is unknown, authorities said.
