Gertrude Shainberg Davis

1911-2007 age 96, passed away peacefull at home in Newport Beach, Ca. on May 2007, surrounded by the love of her children, Jerry and Frances Davis and Joel and Judy Slutzky; her grandchildren Gail and Raoul Standt, Alan and Olivia Slutzky, Eric and Danielle Slutzky, Julie and Wud Pocingwong, and Geoff and Wendy Davis. All ten of her great grandchildren were able to enjoy her love until the last days of her life.

Born and raised in New Madrid, Missouri, she later moved to Memphis where she met and married Dr. George Davis who preceded her in death in 1958. She lived in Memphis until 1977 until persuaded by her family to move to Newport Beach.

She was an inspiration not only to her children and grandchildren, but also to the many new friends she made in California. Her legacy will be the close knit family that she left behind.

She is also survived by her sister, Edith Jacobson of Memphis, two generations of nieces and nephews, and the most devoted care-givers one could have, Guler MacDonald and Arely Dimas/

Interment will be in Memphis, Tn. The family has requested no flowers. Donations in her memory may be made to Temple Shir Ha Ma’alot in Irvine or to the charity of your choice.
