Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 100th year

Business leaders, city officials and local historians celebrated a century of business partnerships as the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce honored its 100th year in the city.

The evening celebrated the Newport business community’s past, present and future.

“It’s a great resource and a great asset to the economic well-being of the community,” Newport Beach City Councilman Keith Curry said.

Guests at the celebration watched a video with local historians telling the chamber’s story through their own experiences and they perused a series of posters detailing the city and chamber’s history. Notable events such as a UFO sighting above Newport in 1950 and a 1952 visit by the king of Iraq were listed.
