Butterfly garden opens at Newport nature center

At least four butterfly species will be aflutter at today’s Butterfly House Opening and Eco Faire at the Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach.
Visitors are invited to explore Orange County’s first educational butterfly garden, while learning about sustainable living. Butterfly host and nectar plants will be for sale, as well as other nature-themed toys and gifts. Children’s activities include face painting, scavenger hunts and butterfly crafts.
The Butterfly House will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday until the weather cools. The Environmental Nature Center is at 1601 16th St., Newport Beach. For information, call (949) 645-8489.
