Drive-in theater to premiere in May
Nostalgia fans can turn back the clock starting in May in Costa Mesa with the opening of a drive-in movie theater at the Orange County Fair and Exposition Center.
The Star-Vu Drive-In will show first-run movies seven nights a week to people in up to 300 cars. It will not operate during the Orange County Fair.
Bringing the drive-in back — there hasn’t been an operating drive-in movie theater in Orange County for about a decade — was the idea of four Baby Boomer businesspeople, including Newport Beach resident and Orange County Market Place president Jeffrey Teller, and Newport Beach business owner Mary Jean Duran of Lake Forest.
According to the company, the screen will be state-of-the-art but also inflatable, making it easy for the company to take up and down.
