Corona del Mar 11, Peninsula 7CORONA DEL MAR — Sea Kings junior Fabian Matthews swept his three singles sets without dropping a game in the nonleague match Tuesday.
The duo of seniors Dustin Hladek and Ryan Caughren swept their doubles sets for Corona del Mar (6-0), the No. 5-ranked team in CIF Southern Section Division I, which upended No. 6 Peninsula.

Newport Harbor 201, Foothill 211NEWPORT BEACH — Newport senior Andrew Skjonsby was medalist with a one-under-par 35, helping the Sailors to the nonleague victory Tuesday at Big Canyon Country Club.
Also scoring for Newport Harbor (4-3) were Bryce Greeley (38), Dan Darnell (41), Justin Morehead (43) and Chase Behr (44).
The Tars play Servite on Thursday at Western Hills Golf and Country Club in Chino Hills.
Sage Hill 195, Fairmont Prep 205ANAHEIM — Lightning senior Geoff Grant was co-medalist with a one-over-par 36, helping Sage Hill remain undefeated in the Academy League at Dad Miller Golf Course on Tuesday.
Steve Choi had a 38 for the Lightning (5-1, 5-0 in league). Also scoring were James Chai (39), Ryan Babbush (41) and Mac Mace (41).
Steve Lim of Fairmont Prep also fired a 36.
Sage Hill plays Whitney today at Big Canyon Country Club.
Estancia 212, Huntington Beach 227COSTA MESA — Drew Bertoni shot four-over-par 40 to earn medalist honors and lead the Eagles to a nonleague win Tuesday at Mesa Verde Country Club.
Ryan Knapp (41), Storm Hagen (43), Pat Flanery (44) and Kyle Jones (44) also contributed to the victory. The Eagles (6-1) will play against the Oilers Thursday at Seacliff Country Club.
Tesoro 190, Corona del Mar 203COTO DE CAZA — The Sea Kings’ David Su shot even-par 36 to tie for medalist honors with the Titans’ Tyler Todhunter in the nonleague match at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club Tuesday.
Taylor Keddington (39), Camden Nicholson (40), Patrick Suozzi (43) and Josh Starnes (45) also scored for Corona del Mar.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
El Modena def. EstanciaCOSTA MESA — The Eagles lost, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 15-12, in the nonleague match Tuesday.
Estancia fell to 1-2 on the season.
Eagles Coach Mark Cygan said his team has continued to improve.
“Barry [Fryslie] did a nice job setting tonight,” the second-year coach said. “Brian Sankey made some really good decisions and placed the ball really well. Our middle blockers, Bradley Reitler and Kyle Prevel showed a lot of growth tonight. Those guys really stepped up big time.”
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
JSerra def. Sage HillSAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Bayle Smith had 14 kills and two aces for the Lightning, who lost 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 in a nonleague match Tuesday.
Mattias Russo-Larsson added 11 digs for Sage Hill (4-3), which finished second at the Santiago Tournament Saturday. Smith was named MVP of the tournament.
The Lightning will play host to San Marino on Friday.
