FRESNO — UC Irvine senior Jay Choe is in a three-way tie for the lead with a three-under 141 through 36 holes at Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno.
The Anteaters are in second place, five strokes behind San Diego State through two rounds
UCI senior Brian Edick shot four-under Monday, putting him at two-under for the tournament. He is in a three-way tie for fourth.
John Chin (143) is two back of the lead in seventh.
Sean Shahi is 13th, Tim Cha 22nd, and Derek Uyesaka 51st for the Anteaters.

Vanguard 7, Benedictine 2
Vanguard 2, Dickinson 1
TUCSON — The Lions used two strong pitching performances at the Tucson Invitational Games to improve to 24-3 Monday at Lincoln Park.
Freshman Melissa Forrester went the distance against Benedictine of Kansas in Monday’s first game to improve to 5-1. She also went two for four with an RBI to pace the Lions’ seven-hit attack.
Freshman Noel Devine had a pinch-hit homer in the sixth, her first as a collegian.
Against Dickinson of North Dakota, junior Jennifer Olvera tossed a two-hitter, fanning 10 and allowing only an unearned run to improve to 7-1.
Senior Jennifer Bomgren scored the winning run on a throwing error in the fifth inning against Dickinson.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
UC Irvine 4, Central Florida 3
IRVINE — Jayme Hu beat Becky Gordon of Central Florida, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 6 singles to help clinch the nonconference win Monday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
Hu and Lisa Shih picked up the lone doubles win for the No. 28-ranked Anteaters (14-2).
Inna Agababian (No. 2), Clare Fermin (No. 3) and Jessica Broadfoot (No. 5) also won their respective singles matches for UCI.
Central Florida fell to 5-5.
Yale visits UCI today at 1:30.
MEN’S TENNIS
UC Irvine 7, Gonzaga 0
IRVINE — Andrei Radulescu’s 6-2, 6-2 victory over Zack Radetzky of Gonzaga at No. 6 singles was the most lopsided in the Anteaters’ nonconference match Monday.
UCI’s other singles winners included Aaron Yovan, Victor Lamm, Mustafa Ulukan, Shimpei Suzuki and Zac Tsai, at No 1 through No. 5, respectively.
At No. 1 doubles, Yovan and Ulukan pulled out an 8-7 victory for UCI (5-8).
Radulescu and Tsai teamed to win at No. 2 doubles, while Lamm and Alex Sundling won at No. 3 singles.
Gonzaga is 6-8.
Yale visits UCI today at 10 a.m.
