Newport Elks Tournament
Costa Mesa 9, Beckman 2
COSTA MESA — John Rybarczyk went two for four with a double and three RBIs, leading the Mustangs to a Costa Mesa bracket semifinal win Wednesday at Costa Mesa High.
Garrick Williams pitched shutout ball over the final six innings to earn his first win of the season for the Mustangs (4-0). Chad Peterson, Williams and Matt Pisarski also had doubles for Costa Mesa.
Costa Mesa plays host to Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana on Saturday at 2 p.m. for the Costa Mesa bracket championship.

WHITTIER — Newport Harbor gave up a run in the bottom of the sixth, suffering the tough loss in the Foothill Bracket of the Newport Elks Tournament.
Jarrett Daniels went two for three with three stolen bases for the Sailors (1-3).

COSTA MESA — The Eagles had the tying run thrown out at home to end the game in the Newport Elks Tournament game Thursday.
Eddie Tomasek was one for three with two RBIs and Sam Prancoso was one for four with two runs and a stolen base for Estancia (1-3).

IRVINE — Ryan Babbush, James Chai and Mac Mace each shot 43 on the par-36 course to help the Lightning to the nonleague win at Strawberry Farms Golf Club Thursday.
Geoff Grant (44), Steven Choi (49) also scored for Sage Hill, which improved to 4-1. Derek Micek shot 41 to earn medalist honors for the Vaqueros (1-3).
The Lightning return to action Tuesday at 3 p.m. against Fairmont Prep at Dad Miller Golf Course.
Newport Harbor 181, Aliso Niguel 187
ALISO VIEJO — Justin Morehead shot one-under 33 to earn medalist honors and lead the Sailors to the nonleague win at Aliso Viejo Golf Club Thursday.
Bryce Greeley (35), Andrew Skjonsby (35), Chase Bear (37), Dalton Shane (41) also contributed to the victory for Newport Harbor (3-3).

COSTA MESA — The Mustangs posted their lowest team score of the season on the Los Lagos par 37 course Thursday for the Orange Coast League victory.
Billy Lim and Eddie Rodriguez tied for medalist honors with 43s for Costa Mesa (3-3, 1-1 in league). Garrick Vohs (46), Anthony Buckley (46) and Jeff Long (50) also scored for the Mustangs.
Estancia 203, Orange 277
CHINO — The Eagles’ Ryan Knapp was medalist with a one-under-par 35, leading Estancia to an easy win in its Orange Coast League opener Thursday at El Prado Golf Course.
Also scoring for Estancia (4-1, 1-0 in league) were Andrew Ayala (41), Drew Bertoni (41), Pat Flannery (42) and Storm Hagens (44).
Estancia plays Calvary Chapel on Monday at Costa Mesa Country Club.
BOYS’ TENNIS
El Modena 11, Estancia 7
ORANGE — Ely Zaidler and Bradley Fisher swept their singles sets, but the Eagles received only one other win and lost the nonleague match Thursday.
Fisher lost only two games and Zaidler dropped only three for the Eagles (2-3).

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Estancia High short boarders Eric Mickelson, Michael Gilmore and Nick Fowler all placed first in their first heats on Feb. 21 at Golden West Street. Body boarder Jeffery Guillen and long boarder Jeff Crossen both advanced to the finals, placing second and third, respectively, in the first heat.
Mickelson and Fowler both went on to win their final heat to finish in first place, leading Estancia to a current team standing of second place.

IRVINE — The Eagles lost, 24-13, 25-17, 25-18, in a nonleague match Thursday.
Estancia Coach Mark Cygan said the Eagles’ passing has improved.
“We’re making big strides in our passing,” Cygan said. “Everybody on the team had a pretty good game.”
Estancia is 1-1.
