Cody Cipriano drove in a season-best four RBIs on two home runs and freshman Francis Larson hit his first career home run, driving in three RBIs while hitting two for three for UCI (11-4-1)
In the first game, Huskies designated hitter Ty Rasmussen hit a solo home run in the seventh for the game’s only run.
UCI starter Scott Gorgen took the hard-luck loss, despite allowing just three hits in 6 2/3 innings. He walked five and struck out seven.
Ben Orloff went two for four to lead the Anteaters’ five-hit attack.

Riverside 9, Orange Coast 4COSTA MESA — Four Pirates pitchers issued eight walks and hit four batters to help the Tigers prevail in the Orange Empire Conference clash Saturday at OCC.
Riverside broke a 4-4 tie with a four-run eighth inning, capped by a three-run triple by Nick Akins. Riverside improved to 13-6, 1-1 in conference.
OCC (10-8, 1-1) was without sophomore starting pitcher Keith Demorgandie, who is out with a sore elbow after pitching last on Feb. 24.
Sophomore Ryan Eccles started on the mound for OCC, though freshman reliever Daniel Jacobsen absorbed the loss.
Sophomore first baseman Eric Oliver went three for five with one RBI and sophomore catcher Chris Lum was two for five with two RBIs to lead OCC’s 13-hit attack.

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD
All-UC MeetIRVINE — The UC Irvine men took second after being edged by UC Santa Barbara, 208-204, Saturday at UCI.
Anteaters senior Ricky Barnes won the 1,500 meters with a come-from-behind win, finishing in 3:49.71. Senior Jon Wratten won the high jump with a mark of 6-10 3/4 , tying a career high, and senior Aaron Corbett was first in the pole vault at 15-1.
Sophomores Oliver Plattner and Nick Mosey both finished second, Plattner in the 200 meters (22.00 seconds) and Mosey in the 3,000 meters (8:32.05).
WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD
All-UC MeetIRVINE — UC Irvine placed third on Saturday at UCI with 135 points, behind champion UCSB (211) and second-place UC San Diego (207).
Anteaters junior Candice Parker won the 3,000 meters in 9:54.95. Freshman Alisha Misiata finished second in the shot put with a toss of 46-4 1/4 — the second-best mark in Anteaters history — and sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 138-6, No. 3 in the UCI record books.
Senior Ashlee Marshell finished second in the long jump (18-6), and junior Nicole Dickerson was third in both the 100 meters (12.67 seconds) and the 200 meters (25.90).
UCI is at the Ben Brown Invitational in Walnut on Friday and Saturday.
SOFTBALL
Vanguard 1, Biola 0Vanguard 3, Biola 1COSTA MESA — Behind solid pitching performances from Jennifer Olvera and Jennifer Rynda, the Lios swept a Golden State Athletic Conference double-header from Biola Saturday.
In the first game, Olvera struck out 10 batters in a one-hit shutout and improved to 4-1. Rynda pitched six shutout innings to win her third game of the year.
Vanguard (13-4, 2-0 in conference) returns to action Tuesday, when the Lions play at Concordia at 1:30 p.m.

WOMEN’S WATER POLO
USC 12, UC Irvine 8LOS ANGELES — The No. 5-ranked UCI women’s water polo team fell behind early and lost in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game Saturday at No. 3 USC.
Nikki Frish led the Anteaters (10-5, 1-3 in conference) with two goals, and Lauren Machanis had seven saves. Corona del Mar High product Tumua Anae had three saves for the Trojans.
UCI next plays at Cal on March 10 at 12 p.m.
