ANAHEIM — Ryan Babbush shot three-over-par 38 as the medalist, leading the Lightning to an Academy League-opening win Wednesday at Dad Miller Golf Course.
Geoffrey Grant carded 40, while Steven Choi and James Chai both came in with 41, and Mac Mace had a 46 for Sage Hill (1-1, 1-0 in league).
The Lightning face Brethren Christian Monday at Costa Mesa Country Club.

SANTA ANA — Bryce Greeley shot for par 36, which was the best for the Sailors in a nonleague match Wednesday.
Dalton Shane (40), Justin Morehead (41), Andrew Skanjonsby (43), Travis Russell (43) also scored for Newport Harbor, which plays against Dana Hills again today at El Niguel Country Club in Laguna Niguel.

CORONA DEL MAR — Junior Fabian Matthews swept his singles sets in the Sea Kings’ narrow victory Wednesday at CdM.
Parker Rhodes and Chris Damion also won three sets at No. 1 doubles for CdM (2-0), as did Dustin Hladek and Ryan Caughren at No. 2 doubles.
The Sea Kings play host to Beverly Hills today at 3 p.m.

Newport Harbor’s No. 1 doubles team of Taylor Friend and McKenna Duley won two of three sets. The Sailors play on Monday against Sage Hill, at Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Freshman Andrew Dorne and junior Beau Caillouette won two events each for the Lightning in their season opener Tuesday.
Dorne won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 13.46 seconds, and the 500 freestyle in 5:24.74. Caillouette earned first place in the 50 free (25.15) and 100 free (56.53). Sophomore Michael Ljungh won the 200 free (2:03.16) and junior Ryan Barth won the 100 breaststroke (1:14.93). The Lightning also swept all three relays, including the 200 medley (Jimmy Miller, Barth, Jake Blitzer and Stephen Krieger in 1:56.53), the 200 free (Caillouette, Barth, Ljungh and Dorne in 1:41.91) and the 400 free (Dorne, Miller, Ljungh and Caillouette in 3:53.22).

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Junior Sarah Wesley won two individual events for the Lightning in their season opener Tuesday.
Wesley won the 100-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 1.54 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.36. Dylan Conroy won the 200 free (2:21.03) and Conroy, Kelly Carpenter, Nancy Benner and Wesley won the 400 relay in 4:33.52.
