COSTA MESA PLANNING COMMISSION PREVIEW
Here are some items the planning commission will consider Monday.
WEST 17TH AND PLACENTIA CONDOS
Property owner Telford A. Walker wants to split up the units in five industrial buildings with multiple tenants at the southeast corner of West 17 Street and Placentia Avenue. If the commission approves a new map of the four-acre parcel that reflects the change to condos, the units can be sold separately.
The property is in the Mesa West Bluffs overlay zone, which means the owner could develop it with live-work units, but Walker wants to keep the property industrial.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Planning staff members recommend approving the new map, which would not need a City Council vote.
MONTE VISTA LAND PURCHASE
The city may buy a small parcel at 261 Monte Vista Ave., but first the commission has to decide whether planned use — public, and likely recreational — complies with the city’s general plan.
The 1.2-acre parcel, a former private school, probably isn’t big enough for athletic fields, but it is adjacent to the existing Brentwood Park and could add to the facilities there.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The commission will probably find the purchase and use of the parcel consistent with the general plan.
