New board member signs on at Hoag

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian announced Tuesday the election of its newest board of directors member, Allyson M. Brooks.

Brooks is an obstetrician and gynecologist and has been on the medical staff at Hoag for about 17 years. Prior to her election to a three-year term on the board of directors, she served as chair of her department.

The Newport Beach resident was elected to a three-year term on the board.

BioCell announces new ingredient available

Economic conference coming to Costa Mesa

Businessmen and women can register early and save $10 for the Annual Economic Forecast: Economic Outlook for the U.S. and Southern California at the Westin South Coast Plaza from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Jan. 24.

The event will feature prominent professionals and analysts including Esmael Adibi, director of the Gary Anderson C3enter for Economic Research at Chapman University in Orange.

The event also qualifies as one hour of continuing education for certified public accountants.

People who register before Jan. 17 will pay $45 each. After that date the cost will be $55. Tables of 10 are available for $400.

Newport firm buys buildings for $31M

Newport Beach-based real estate investment and development firm Bixby Land Co. announced last week its acquisition of three industrial buildings in Orange and San Diego counties for $31 million.

In Lake Forest, the company acquired a 61,622-square-foot building that will be leased back to the previous owner after signing a 10-year lease agreement.

Bixby purchased a 106,139-square-foot building in Carlsbad and a 48,000-square-foot building in San Diego.

The San Diego building will also be leased back to the previous owner.

The 110-year-old company will add these properties to its portfolio, which has more than 50 properties already.

Local company making web-mapping easier

Costa Mesa-based Digital Map Products on Wednesday launched its latest product, which allows web developers use accurate property lines for their mapping applications.

According to a news release, Digital Map’s ParcelStream product is already being used by Fidelity National Real Estate Solutions to show accurate property lines on its CyberHomes website.

Digital Map keeps a directory of property lines for 60 million properties in large areas. The company plans to expand its database for most of the United States this year.
