Seniors name Legacy winners

The Laguna Legacy Awards will be presented to Virginia Schott and Harry Lawrence at the Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc. Legacy Ball on Jan. 26.

Schott was one of the early founders of Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc., and served as the organization’s longest-running president.

Lawrence was one of the founders of the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Beautification Council.

Laguna Beach Seniors President Lee Anderson called the award winners to notify them they had been selected.

The qualifications for the nominees were that they be a male and a female who each had left a lasting legacy to Laguna Beach and that the individuals be alive at the time of their nominations.

“The committee received an overwhelming number of nominations for these two deserving individuals,” said Elizabeth Pearson-Schneider, chairman of the Legacy Award and Legacy Ball committee.

“Based on their long-term service to Laguna Beach, we are delighted that Virginia and Harry will be receiving this prestigious recognition.”

The first annual Laguna Legacy Ball, a “retro” sit-down dinner-dance, is being held at Seven Degrees on Friday, Jan. 26, from 5 to 9:30 p.m.

Seven Degrees is the presenting sponsor. Dance music will be provided by Sounds of South Coast Swing, which will play ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s songs.

The event is a fundraiser supporting the operating fund of Laguna Beach Seniors, Inc. There will be a silent auction and opportunity drawings.

Admission is $125 per person.

Opportunity drawings include a new electric golf cart/car and a trip to Kauai, Hawaii. Opportunity tickets are $20 each.

Silent auction items will include framed old Laguna photographs, antique jewelry and small antique items. To make a donation of an item for the silent auction, call (949) 497-2441.

Reservations must be made no later than Jan. 15.
