BRIEFS

UCI ADDS PLAYERS

UC Irvine’s baseball program has signed five high school athletes to national letters of intent during the early signing period.

“Coming off our 22-player recruiting class of 2006 that was ranked 13th in the country by Baseball America, we knew this 2007 class would be much smaller in number,” said UC Irvine assistant coach Sergio Brown. “Although small in number, it is large in talent.”

Players signing were Daniel Carroll, a outfielder from Valley High in Moreno Valley, Sean Parvin, a second baseman from Northwood in Irvine, Brent Bray, a shortstop/right-handed pitcher from Beaumont in Yucaipa, Maverick Olivares, a outfielder/left-handed pitcher from Bishop Amat in Hacienda Heights, and Jake Morton, a right-handed pitcher from Jesuit in Fair Oaks.
