The Huntington Beach Green Chargers had a 19-game unbeaten streak snapped Saturday in Tustin, as the host Black Cobras came away with a 22-6 victory in Pop Warner Football Junior Midget Division play.
Huntington’s unbeaten streak dated back to December 2004.
The Green Chargers got the upper hand early when Christopher Ogilvie intercepted a Tustin pass and returned it 24 yards to the Black Cobras’ 25-yard line.
Six plays later, Tanner Greeley scored from five yards out on a counter-left to give Huntington what would be its only score and lead, 6-0.
Tustin added a touchdown and conversion in the first half and took an 8-6 lead at the half.
Second-half penalties doomed the Green Chargers, who committed four in addition to turning the ball over twice.
Playoff-bound Huntington will attempt to rebound Saturday when it plays the Santa Ana Monarchs in the league-season finale.
