Rite Aid robber being sought

Police were looking Monday for a man who attempted to rob the Rite Aid on Pacific Coast Highway in Corona del Mar this weekend.

Just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the robber threatened a clerk with a semiautomatic handgun, police said. When the clerk refused to give him money from the register, the robber left, Sgt. Bill Hartford said.

The robber was described as white, about 55 years old, about 5-foot-5 inches tall, weighing 280 pounds. He had a full gray beard and green eyes. He was wearing a green jacket, a white button-up shirt and tan pants, Hartford said.
