COSTA MESA
It is a sad time for used book-lovers in the city.
The Apollo Book Shop on Westminster Avenue soon will be closing its doors after 44 years in Costa Mesa.
Owners Mary-Alice Currie and her husband Lin Currie said they are closing because they simply cannot compete with the Internet and book-seller giants like Borders.
They will close their small shop, but will remain in the used book business by joining “the enemy” ? the Internet, Mary-Alice Currie said.
The couple hasn’t chosen a day to close yet. They want to sell as many books from their 15,000-book collection as they can before closing.
