What’s hot, besides the weather

You know you’re living in paradise when the hottest topic in the same week in both Costa Mesa and Newport Beach is a debate over the management of parks and athletic fields.

In Newport, the discussion is whether to build a more or less free city hall where a park could be. They’re also talking about a park at Marinapark. (That location already has the right name, all it needs is the “park” part.)

In Costa Mesa, a healthy debate centers over how and where to light more fields so kids can play soccer.

Both dialogues would indicate to any outsider that we’ve got our priorities straight.

And, yes, it’s nice to see and hear so very little about illegal immigrants this week. Just a guess, but I’m getting the feeling that finally this thing is all talked out. There’s nothing new being added to the debate anymore, so many of us are moving on.
