Yelsey falls in NCAA doubles semi

STANFORD, Calif. ? Corona del Mar High product Anne Yelsey, a junior at Stanford University, was eliminated in the doubles semifinals of the NCAA women’s tennis championships Sunday.
Yelsey and partner Alice Barnes, the No. 1 seed, were defeated, 6-3, 6-2, by Cristelle Grier and Alexis Prousis from Northwestern.
Yelsey, who helped Stanford claim the NCAA team title earlier in the week, paired with Amber Liu to finish second in the NCAA doubles tournament last season.
Yelsey and Barnes finished 42-4 on the season. They defeated UCLA’s Laura Gordon and Reza Zalameda, 6-1, 6-4, in the quarterfinals Saturday, after earning a three-set win over a TCU duo in the Round of 16.
