Six arrested in undercover underage alcohol sting

Six people were arrested on suspicion of furnishing an alcoholic beverage to a minor on Friday night.

The undercover operation was set up by Laguna detectives in conjunction with the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, according to a news release.

Law enforcement officials sent 18-year-olds out as decoys to solicit adults to purchase alcohol for them. The violation is a misdemeanor.

The six arrested were: Thomas Engelhardt, 55, of Laguna Beach, Eric Downey, 21, of Laguna Beach, Curtis Ebling Jr., 35, of Santa Ana, Joseph Brummel, 38, of Mission Viejo, Stacey Weiss, 27, of Long Beach and Michael Chiara, 52, of Laguna Niguel.
