Team Neighbor third at hoops tourney

Team Neighbor, a local girls’ youth basketball team, finished in third place in the 15-and-Under Division of the Southern California Basketball Classic.

The tournament was held at various gymnasiums in Orange County.

In the third-place game Sunday at Valencia High in Placentia, Team Neighbor posted a 37-32 victory over the L.A. Swish. Janet Kim led all scorers with 13 points, and Caitlyn Connors contributed 12 in the win.

Team Neighbor opened the tournament Saturday in Westminster with a win over California’s Finest, 35-22. Renee Lindquist scored a team-high 13 points and Janet Kim had 10 points for Team Neighbor.

In a semifinal matchup Sunday at Valencia High, Team Neighbor suffered a 43-29 setback. Nikki Fukuzawa led Team Neighbor with seven points.
