Lil’ Locas pull away to 8-1 win

A bases-loaded double by Bree Payson tilted the game the way of the Lil’ Locas, who broke away from the HB Lightning to score an 8-1 victory in Huntington Beach Girls Softball 10-and-Under Division action.
The two-bagger by Payson in the fourth inning drove in two runs and broke a 1-1 tie.
The second inning for the Lil’ Locas began with walks to Emily Cardona and Jane Reynolds. Dana Rutkin then came up with had an infield single to load the bases to set the stage for Payton.
Following the two-RBI double by Payson, Kaitlyn Courie knocked in two more runs with a single.
The Lightning scored their run in the third inning when Jessica Billeter walked and then scored on a double by Tobi Salzman.
Rutkin had eight strikeouts and didn’t allow a hit in three innings pitched. She also hit a two-run double to help close out the game.
Reynolds, Cardona and Madison Hurst also had hits for the Lil’ Locas.
Salzman led the Lightning with two hits.
