Pirates recover for win

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College survived a scare in Orange Empire Conference play, rallying in the second half to defeat Golden West, 65-58, on Wednesday night.
The Pirates (25-4, 9-2 in conference) entered the game ranked No. 4 in Southern California and No. 7 in the state. Golden West (2-22, 0-11) had just two wins coming into Wednesday night’s game.
The Rustlers shocked the home team in the first half, taking a 35-31 lead at the break. Orange Coast responded by shooting 48.1% from the field and holding Golden West to seven second-half baskets.
Jillian Ricks led OCC with 16 points and seven rebounds, followed by Crystal McCormick with 14 points. Madison Parks added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench, making all five of her field goal attempts.
Biava Arganda scored 19 points to lead Golden West.
