Newport Harbor senior girls’ volleyball star earns top award, while four other Sailors garner all-league accolades.Newport Harbor High senior opposite hitter Bryana Carey was named Sea View League Most Valuable Player and was among five Sailors honored, as the all-league teams were announced Monday.
Sophomore outside hitter Jamie Heenan and sophomore Megan Munce were elected to the first team for the league champion Sailors, while junior outside hitters Megan Tooman and Coco Yokoyama were named to the second team.
Carey, who will play at William and Mary College next fall, was named second-team all-league last year as a junior middle blocker.
Yokoyama also earned her second all-league nod. She was a second-team selection last year. The Sailors finished the season 24-8. They were eliminated in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division II-AA playoffs.
