vanguard signings standaloneLions’ women’s volleyball team earns back-to-back Region II berth for first time in program history.Vanguard University will open the NAIA Region II women’s volleyball playoffs at Cal Baptist tonight at 7.
The Lions (23-10, 10-10 in the Golden State Athletic Conference) are the No. 7 seed in the eight-team event. The winner will earn a bid into the national tournament.
Cal Baptist (26-3, 18-2 in the GSAC), the reigning national champion, is the No. 2 seed.
Cal Baptist defeated the Lions in two previous meetings this season. The Lancers swept, 30-24, 30-27, 30-15, at home Sept. 13 and won, 30-28, 30-16, 26-30, 30-19, at Vanguard on Oct. 18.
If victorious, Vanguard would advance to Friday’s semifinals.
