DeCasas, a 6-foot-5 senior wing, was first-team All-CIF Southern Section Division II-AA and the South Coast League Most Valuable Player as a junior.
DeCasas averaged 16 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals for the Cougars last season.
DeCasas plays for Coach Brian Mulligan at Capo Valley, which was 25-5 a year ago. Mulligan played and coached for former UCI head man Bill Mulligan, his father, in the 1980s.
DeCasas is the third player from Capistrano Valley to matriculate to UCI in recent years. Jeff Gloger, a fifth-year senior, is also a former Cougar, as is Davis Baker, who played as a freshman for the Anteaters last season and is on the first year of his two-year church mission this season.
“Chad is a versatile, physically mature, ambidextrous young man who can enter our program next fall and assist us immediately,” Douglass said.20051115J91KV42SNo Caption
