Hitting of Neptune and Johnson leads way in 20-9 win.Through the early weeks of the city’s Community Services Dept. men’s fall 16-inch slow pitch softball program, Sandpiper is the lone undefeated team.
Sandpiper ran its record to 3-0 with a 20-9 pasting of the C-Dawgs Tuesday at Riddle Field. Sandpiper won the game despite playing with just seven players.
In a 21-hit attack, Ryan Neptune produced a home run and five singles, notching six RBI. Teammate Art Johnson doubled, singled five times and had five RBI. Steve Lafferty doubled, singled three times and had five RBI.
The C-Dawgs managed 13 hits, led by Aaron Brower, who homered twice, singled twice and had six RBI.
In other Tuesday League action:
Team Viagra 5, DUI Fighters 4
Teo Moore smacked a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie and lift summer Tuesday League champion Team Viagra to victory. Glen Cecil singled twice for Team Viagra, which was outhit, 12-7. Scott Borthwick and Mike Jewell each had three singles to lead DUI Fighters.
Red Rum 13, Ganahl Lumber 5
Allen Krist doubled and tripled in driving in five runs for Red Rum, which won for the first time since summer season play.
Matt Johnson had a big first inning blast for Red Rum -- a two-run home run. Ganahl Lumber also had a fast start in the first inning, as Bob Bonn and Dave Wallace hit back-to-back home runs.
In Thursday League action:
Puswatrkylegs 7, Compound Fractures 4
The three-run victory moved Puswatrkylegs into a first-place tie with previously unbeaten Compound Fractures. Puswatrkylegs won the game in the fifth inning when it scored four runs on a single and six walks. John Reynard and Vince Marconi each hit a home run for the winners. Steve Hurst had two singles for Compound Fractures.
Pancakes 10, Courtesy Auto Body 3
Robert Sheehan and Adrian Lowery each hit a home run and singled twice, and Nick Caputo and Mike Gonzales each hit solo home runs to lead a 13-hit attack by the Pancakes. Dave Meggison hit a pair of home runs and singled twice in a four-for-four performance for Courtesy Auto Body.
Hamstrings 13, Hotwings 3
Joel Harris hit a grand slam and singled three times in four trips to the plate as the Hamstrings rolled past the Hotwings. Andrew Marriner accounted for three of the Hamstrings’ 16 hits with a home run, a double and single. Trigg Garner hit a three-run home run for the Hotwings.
