o7Here are some items the planning commission considered Monday.

AUTO SALES LOT

The commission agreed to give Robins Properties, which owns

Theodore Robins Ford, a one-year extension on a permit to turn

property at 2059 Harbor Blvd. into a car sales and storage lot. The

business owners want to buy the property, but it must be cleaned up

first. It was used as a car wash and gas station for 40 years, so

environmental cleanup is required.

WHAT IT MEANS

Robins Properties has another year to get the property cleaned up

and convert it to a car sales lot.

COMMERCIAL BUILDING

A new building can go up on Newport Boulevard on the same lot as

Surround Sound, a custom audio installation business. The planning

department had approved plans for a 2,500-square-foot commercial

building there, but Surround Sound owner Glenford Dwyer appealed,

claiming the new building will cause a traffic hazard and hurt his

business by obscuring his facility.

WHAT IT MEANS

Property owner John Geyer can build a new commercial building at

2314 Newport Blvd.
