Expressing their artistic sides

The Huntington Beach Independent went to the Academy for the

Performing Arts summer camp and asked children: What is your favorite

thing you are learning at camp?

“I like drawing because I am learning stuff I have never done

before, like trees.”

“My favorite is drama because you can act, and I really want to

become famous, and it’s a good way of expressing myself.”

“My favorite thing is dance because I am getting more flexible,

and I am able to do more things that I have never done before, like

half of the splits and backbends.”

“I like drama because we play lots of games and act like a

mannequin and then they try to make us laugh.”

Madeline Chen, 10, of Placentia “I am learning how to write better and sing better and play games

better. I like writing a lot because I like to write stories and I

would like to be a writer.”
