Here are some items the Planning Commission...

Here are some items the Planning Commission will consider tonight.

KOLL CENTER

EXPANSION

Master Development Corp. wants to replace a one-story office

building at Von Karman Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard with a taller

and larger one. Going from the existing 1,330 square feet to the

proposed 3,080 square feet will require a general plan amendment.

The proposal includes additional parking and is small enough that

it won’t require a Greenlight vote.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Planning department staff members recommend the change.

SEAFOOD RESTAURANT

A new restaurant will open next to Islands Restaurant at the

Bluffs shopping center if the commission approves a permit for the

business. Eddie V’s Wildfish Restaurant would be the fourth eatery in

a seafood chain with other locations in Arizona and Texas.

It would include an oyster bar and outdoor patio, and it would be

open seven days a week.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The police department isn’t concerned about the requested liquor

license because there is a low concentration of alcohol-serving

businesses in the area. Planning staff members recommend approval of

the permit.

GENERAL PLAN DATA

Computer analyses of possible land use options will be presented

to the commission.

The analyses study how much traffic proposed new development would

generate and how such development would affect the environment.

The information is part of an update to the city’s general plan,

which is a road map of sorts for how much development will be

permitted in the city and where it can go.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The commission won’t take any action on the data, which will be

presented to the City Council on Tuesday.

City officials are still working on the general-plan update, which

is not likely to be completed until 2006.
