IT’S ART SEASON

From 1 to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, Chuck Jones Fine Art

Gallery celebrates its new location at Fashion Island, across from

the Atrium Court, with family-fun activities and special appearances.

Bugs Bunny and Snoopy will entertain children, while adults will

enjoy appearances by animation legends Bill Melendez, director and

producer of the animated “Peanuts” films; Rob Minkoff, Chuck Jones

protege and director of “The Lion King,” “Stuart Little!” and “The

Haunted Mansion;” Martha Goldman Sigall, the golden age of animation

inker and painter who worked for Warner Bros. and MGM on Bugs, Daffy,

Tom and Jerry, to name a few; and Stephen Fosatti, Chuck Jones Film

Productions writer and director. These luminaries will answer

questions and sign dedications. Treats and surprises will be given to

the first 150 adults on Saturday and Sunday. And there will be goodie

bags for kids, too. A professional photographer in the gallery will

capture special moments with the kids. The Chuck Jones Fine Art

Gallery is a destination for international art collectors and

FOR THEM, LIFE’S A CAMP

For nearly a decade, BeachSports Summer Beach Camps has offered

girls and boys ages 5 to 15 a chance to participate in summer fun and

lessons on beach and ocean safety, bodyboarding, fitness, ecology,

beach games, kayaking and beach volleyball. Weekly sessions for girls

and boys ages 5 to 12 are offered on the peninsula at 19th Street

from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Weekly sessions at Corona del Mar State Beach at tower No. 5 are from

9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The weekly Bayside Day Camp for girls and boys ages

5 to 10, on the peninsula at 15th Street and Veterans Park, are from

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Corona del Mar Beach Volleyball Camp will offer

girls and boys ages 9 to 13 weekly sessions from 9 to 11:30 a.m. All

BeachSports Summer Beach Camps run from June 27 to Sept. 2.

BeachSports assistant coaches are local high school and college

students. They have swim team, water polo, surfing or junior

lifeguard experience, and are certified in CPR and first aid. The
