Costa Mesa gets kudos for investment program

The city of Costa Mesa was honored recently for its outstanding
investment practices by the Assn. of Public Treasurers of the United
States and Canada. The association looked at the city’s investment
programs, policies and procedures and compared them with professional
standards in the industry.
Water District looks to fill board vacancy
The Orange County Water District is looking for applicants to fill
a seat on the board representing District 5, which includes parts of
Newport Beach as well as Irvine, and parts of Tustin. The vacancy was
left when board member Paul Cook resigned in April. The district
manages a groundwater basin in north and central Orange County that
supplies more than half the water for 2.3 million residents. Many of
these residents live in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach.
Applications will be taken through May 13 and should be sent to
the Board Secretary, Orange County Water District, P.O. Box 8300,

Allergan big donor at champion breakfast
Irvine-based pharmaceutical company Allergan Inc. raised $35,000
of the more than $1 million that went toward Hoag Hospital as part of
the 2005 Toshiba Senior Golf Tournament’s fundraising, according to
the Allergan Foundation.
The company sponsored the Breakfast with a Champion, held on March
15 at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach. Professional golfers Gary
McCord and David Feherty were in attendance.
