Coyote attacks cat in Newport Heights
Newport Beach animal control officers are urging residents to keep
their cats and small pets indoors following a coyote attack of a cat
in Newport Heights.
Officers found evidence of the coyote attack in the 3000 block of
Clay Street Thursday, Sgt. Bill Hartford said.
Animal control officers are aware of the attack and are stepping
up their patrols, he said.
Coyote cubs are often born during the spring season, he said.
Coyotes and other wildlife live in some local areas, such as the
Back Bay and Talbert Regional Park in Costa Mesa.
