Beamers led by hurlers

Newport Harbor Baseball Association’s Sterling BMW defeated the

Arches, 6-2, in a Bronco division baseball game this past weekend.

Pitchers Angelo Angelides, Jordan Desquin and Charles Coakley

controlled the Arches’ offense by striking out 13.

Scott Felder led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while AJ

Swies, Desquin, Coakley and Jason Wooding all had key hits and RBIs

to help earn the win. The Arches were led by Tyler Kihlne, Ryan

Cerrato, Jake Barber, Nelson Simons, Kiehlne, Garret Kerr, Zack

Porteous and Blake Bell.

* Dodgers, Padres

The Dodgers were led by solid play from Mike Ischinger, Jared

Gould, Isaiah Suarez, Robert Jensen, Lavn Hilley, Layne Hiley and

Robert Jennson in a Pinto National division baseball game against the

Padres Sunday. Suarez hit a home run and pitched several strong

innings for the Dodgers.

* Islands 6, Creative Play 3

Islands defeated Creative Play, 6-3, behind the pitching of

Nicolas Sargeant, Mitchell Mendoza and Chase Kapana in a Mustang

division baseball game Saturday at Bonita Canyon Park. Creative Play

was led by Taylor Parks, Jack Maurer and Sean Cox.

* Islands 3, PRES Companies 2

Sargeant and Kapana helped Islands in a 3-2 victory over PRES

Companies in a Mustang division baseball game Sunday and Bob Henry

Park. The pitching of Mark Grace, Mitchell Mendoza and Kapana proved

to be a deciding factor in the outcome.

* Back Bay Funding 8, Toes on the Nose 1

Kyle Flagg had two hits and four RBIs to lead Back Bay Funding

over Toes on the Nose, 8-1, in a Mustang division baseball game

Saturday. Flagg also pitched two innings with four strikeouts, while

Kory Cably and Zachary Wade contributed offensively with two hits

each. Robert Lyons, Jake Prater, Bryan Shollin, Steven Duhoux and

Tommy Hennessy all aided in the win.

* Wide Open 9, PRES Companies 5

Daniel Albert pitched two scoreless innings and Connor Seabold

closed the game with a 1-2-3 sixth inning to lead Wide Open past PRES

Companies, 9-5, in a Mustang division baseball game Saturday.

Wide Open’s offense was led by William Fuchs, Jason Rodriguez,

Dalton Jensen and Grayson Kang.

* Wide Open 6, Grower’s Direct 2

Albert and Seabold led the pitching attack again in Wide Open’s

6-2 victory over Grower’s Direct Sunday. Wide Open was led

offensively by Jensen, Rodriguez, Max Newsom, Timmy Ditty, Seabold

and Albert.

* Sterling BMW 5, RBC Dain 3

Sterling BMW defeated RBIC Dain, 5-3, in a Bronco division

baseball game Saturday at Bonita Canyon Park. BMW pitcher Max Gerard

held RBC to two hits and no runs through three innings, while also

gathering a base hit. Brice Manning, Michael Salam and Luke Dawson

also had base hits as RBC jumped out to a three-run lead after four

innings.

However, BMW rallied in the fourth inning with hits by Charles

Coakley, Angelo Angelides, Trevor Lawrence, AJ Swies and Aaron White

to take a 4-3 lead.

Other RBC contributors were Dash Johnons, Brennan Callahan and

Jordan Desquin.

* Arches 15, Toshiba Golf Classic 4

Nelson Simons hit a home run in the first inning and also pitched

three scoreless innings to lead the Arches past Toshiba Golf Classic,

15-4, in a Bronco division baseball game. Garrett Kerr, Zack

Porteous, Blake Bell, Tyler Kiehnle, Jake Stowell, Ryan Cerrato and

Christian Ochoa all collected hits for Arches. Spencer Rautus, Teddy

Steffel and Ryan Davies had runs for Toshiba.

* Newport Auto Center 7, Strada Properties 6

Michael Cantwell drew a bases loaded, two-out walk to give Newport

Auto Center a 7-6 win over Strada Properties in a Bronco division

baseball game. Austin Rios and Brett Parker each had a hit to lead

off the bottom of the seventh inning and start a comeback rally by

scoring the tying and winning runs. Kevin Kruger was 3 for 4 with two

RBIs. Sean Sullivan, Ethan Fichtner and Conor Sweeney had hits for

Strada Properties.

* Desquin Company 8, Skosh Monahan’s 4

Desquin started fast and mounted an early lead behind three strong

innings from pitcher Nick McCann.

In Costa Mesa National Little League play:

* Cubs, Marlins

Cubs’ Jason Chesemore cleared the bases in the first and second

innings with powerful hits to the outfield in a Costa Mesa National

Little League tee ball game against the Marlins Saturday. Colin

Gardner and Katie Kuttler led the defense for the Cubs.

* Braves, Padres

Matty Rogers and Nicholas Favela both slugged doubles in a tee

ball game involving the Braves and the Padres on Saturday. Other hits

were made by Gavin Kane, Sophie Beazley, Kevin Volk, Danel Fortin,

Joey Wakely, Liam Jason and Sarah Bordelon.

* Rockies, Phillies

Rockies’ Blake Hunt hit a grand slam in a tee ball game against

the Phillies Saturday. Ian Fowler, Christian Pruitt, Travis Hastings

led the defense, while Christian Muniz, Rikki Hernandez and Connor

Hamm each tallied hits to advance runners during the second inning.

* Shetland Dodgers, Shetland Padres

Nolan McElhaney and Cole Pender went 3 for 3 for the Dodgers in an

NHBA baseball game on Saturday. Code Seabold made a key plays at

shortstop and first base for the Dodgers. Jordan Pazkad and Spencer

Lawrence also made key plays in the field.

* Sterling BMW 5, Skosh Monahan’s 4

Sterling’s hitting attack consisted of Trevor Lawrence, AJ Swies,

Angelo Angiledes, Jason Wooding, Chris Sheppard, Scott Felder and

Aaron White, in a 5-4 victory over Skosh Monahan’s in a Bronco

division baseball game. Jack Kanen, Garret Chambers, Conner Lomenzo,

Haden Cornwell, Bryan Guzman and Matt Bancroft led Skosh Monahan’s

Sterling’s pitchers were Angelides, Jordan Desguin and Charles

Coakley.

In Newport Beach Little League play:

* Yankees 11, A’s 2

The Yankees defeated the A’s, 11-2, in a Newport Beach Little

League baseball game this past weekend. The Yankees erupted for nine

runs in the seventh inning to help clinch the eventual victory, with

the pitching led by Chip Zucker.

Yankees’ Brian Ford opened the game with a home run but the A’s

tied it in the bottom of the first with a Brett Lawson run. Cam

Cubiero and Eric Morris pitched for the Yankees, while Bryce Ashton

and Mitch Gardner threw for the A’s.
