PEACE VIGIL

The Laguna Beach Peace Vigil meets every Saturday from 11 a.m. to

1 p.m. at Main Beach. The group seeks nonviolent answers to global

POETRY WORKSHOP

A free poetry workshop will be held on Saturdays through May 7

from 1 to 3 p.m. at Laguna Beach Public Library, 363 Glenneyre St.

Poets of all experience levels are welcome. Participants should bring

at least 10 copies of a poem to discuss and read to the group.

SUNDAY

ADULT BASKETBALL

The public is invited to play ball at Laguna Beach High School.

Full-court pick-up games are played in the school’s gym from 9 a.m.

to noon Sundays. Many former high school and college players

participate. The games are sponsored by the city’s recreation

department. Cost is $2 at the door.

SUNDAY SERVICES

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach will hold

Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. at 429 Cypress Drive. Cynthia Fruchtman

will be the guest speaker and will discuss the responsibilities of

science to the general community in connection with such new

ADULT LEARNING PROGRAM

The Laguna Beach Unified School District Adult Program for

learning English as a second language will be held from 5:30 to 8:30

p.m., Mondays to Thursdays in Room 90 at 550 Bluemont St. The class

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church will welcome anyone dealing with grief

and loss in a new support group. The group will meet at 7 p.m. on

BIBLE STUDY

Word Study Laguna Beach, a community nondenominational,

nonexclusive Bible study, will hold meetings at noon at the Calvary

Evangelical Free Church. Word Study Laguna Beach is an independent

ministry of Word Study International and meets weekly from noon to 1

p.m. in the church at 468 Legion St. All are welcome to participate

DISCUSS WORLD AFFAIRS

The Laguna Beach chapter of the League of Women Voters and the

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship invite the public to discuss world

affairs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Unitarian

Universalist Fellowship, 429 Cypress Drive. Meetings will be held

TAX ASSISTANCE

The Laguna Beach Senior Center will offer free tax preparation and

assistance from 9 a.m. to noon every Wednesday and Thursday through

April 14 at the Laguna Beach Senior Center, 384 Legion St. Volunteer

counselors are trained by the Internal Revenue Service will staff a

tax counseling desk to provide free assistance. Assistance is

REPUBLICAN MEETING

The Laguna Beach Republicans will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. at

MEET MATT BROWN

The Laguna Beach Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation will hold a

to talk about his responsibilities and how you can help him educate

Docents are needed for the Hortense Miller Garden in Laguna Beach.

People come from all over the world to see this Laguna landmark. The

commitment is usually for one or two garden tours a month. An

OPEN GATHERINGS

Open Gatherings is a local movement that draws people together

from all faiths and nonfaiths to explore topics of spirituality,
