The eyes’ lashes have it

If you saw the Academy Awards last Sunday, you might have been amazed
by the vocal talent, the fashion sense and the makeup of Beyonce. Her
eyeliner from one costume change alone cleaned out the makeup counter
at several department stores.
While you were pursuing a natural, healthy lifestyle, doing your
yoga breaths and eating foods without preservatives and additives,
big hair and even bigger makeup returned to the world of fashion with
almighty power and punch.
Last week in Newport Beach, before Beyonce and the Oscars, a chic
group of fashionable citizens converged upon Neiman Marcus Fashion
Island for a high-fashion cocktail party to launch the Shu Uemura
makeup boutique inside the store.
Celebrity make-up artist Gina Brooke, who works with Madonna, put
on a make-up show that dazzled the cocktail crowd. Brooke applied
fake eyelashes made from feathers on the models. The latest spring
fashion trend -- beyond Beyonce.
“Shu Uemura developed his makeup based on elements from art,
nature and technology,” Neiman Marcus’ Michaele Hall reported. “From
the unique presentation of his shadows, the makeup removal efficiency
of his cleansing oil, to the meticulous range of his handmade make-up
brushes, each product is designed to absolute perfection.”
There you have it. Makeup is in this season. Heavy eyeliner and
feathers for lashes are just the beginning. And it’s all about being
creative, daring and a star in your own circle.
Oh, and by the way, if feathers on your eyelashes don’t tickle
your fancy, try mink -- as worn by Oprah at the Academy Awards.
Expensive, yes. Glamorous, indeed.
