Police investigate alleged sexual assault

A 41-year-old Costa Mesa resident reported to police that she was

raped by a man she invited home after meeting him at a fast-food

restaurant.

The woman told police the incident happened Monday morning at

about 10:30 a.m., Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Marty Carver said. She

reported the rape two days later, he said.

The woman met the man at the McDonald’s on 19th Street in Costa

Mesa and he offered to take her home, Carver said.

The two walked to her home and she invited him inside, then he

sexually assaulted her, Carver said.

The man then left, he said.

The suspect, possibly a transient, Carver said, is described as a

white man in his 50s, 6 feet 2, 175 pounds with brown hair, a beard

and mustache.
