Ocean View School District trustee Barbara Boskovich has sent apology
letters to Supt. James Tarwater and Harbour View Principal Roni Ellis
after angry parents last week demanded her resignation for spreading
nasty rumors, officials said.
Boskovich is under fire for spreading rumors about Ellis, and was
the object of public comments for nearly two hours during the Dec. 7
school board meeting, trustee Debbie Cotton said.
“She thoroughly abused the power of the office, and for that she
should step down,” parent Clem Scharwath said.
Ellis’ husband, Dave Ellis also addressed Boskovich and gave an
emotional speech, but she showed no emotion and made no response,
said Overend.
“This speech came from the heart,” Overend said. “She was
nonresponsive, she didn’t say a thing at all, kinda smirked and kinda
sneered at some comments.” Trustees typically do not respond to the
public comments, assistant superintendent of human resources Michael
Luker said.
Although Boskovich sent apology letters to Ellis and Tarwater,
there are no indications that she will resign.
Tarwater and Ellis could not be reached for comment.
If Boskovich does not resign, parents said they hope she will at
least get the message that they are watching her every move.
“We simply have to be more astute and observant of her actions,”
Scharwath said.
Angry parents may consider a recall campaign against Boskovich,
Scharwath said.
“It is a possibility ... it’s a very difficult one,” Scharwath
said.
The board has not discussed the possibility of a resignation,
Cotton said.
“We, as a board, have not taken any action,” Cotton said.
“This district, in my opinion, has a profound habit of sticking
their head in the sand and hoping it goes away,” Cotton said.
