Susan, a 14-week-old black, spayed female, was treated for an
upper respiratory infection that just wouldn’t go away.
Second-opinion doctors diagnosed her with a secondary bacterial lung
infection when she was only 7 weeks old. She was treated
successfully, but it left her with a permanent wheeze.
Community Animal Network has had Susan examined thoroughly by the
experts to rule out a diaphragmatic hernia -- an opening in the lung
cavity lining, allowing for the lower intestinal organs to crowd the
heart and lungs. We even searched her nasal cavity for polyps when
she went under anesthesia to be spayed.
Readers may believe this to be extreme, but we do everything we
can to ensure that our animals receive the utmost veterinary care
prior to their adoption. Managing a pro-quality organization is a
great responsibility, not only to use the funds wisely but also to
find homes for the animals that have been rehabilitated, or the ones
that shelters or other groups would say are not adoptable.
Our adoption success with senior dogs and cats, the blind and
animals that have had severe eyelid abnormalities -- all have found
loving homes. Momba and her two feline leukemia-positive babies,
known as the leukemia cat family, found a home last weekend in
Newport Beach.
We thank you for opening your hearts to give our veterinary
medical rescues great homes.
