The Newport Harbor High girls junior varsity volleyball team
defeating Foothill, Woodbridge, Irvine, Laguna Hills and Aliso Viejo
in it’s last five matches to finish in a first-play tie in the Sea
View League.
The team really began to gel and play as a cohesive unit by
eliminating unforced errors and taking advantage of the other teams’
weaknesses, according to Coach Brenda Waterman, a former Newport
Harbor Sailor standout who went on to play at UC Irvine.
The team consisted of Jessica Brostek, Cassidy Gayner, Amy
Staudinger, Dailey Wiese, Melissa Mead, Halie Mitchell, Jessica
Peschelt, Laure Kohne, Danielle Seals, Carly Ruiz, Blair Tarnutzer,
Shelly Diefenbach, Catherine Cameron, Megan Louvier, Jessica Bodkin
and Katie Wells.
