Newport Harbor High girls golfer Natalie Draganza shot a 1-over-par
73 to finish eighth at the CIF Women’s Southern California Golf
Association championship Monday at the Southern California Golf
Association Golf Club in Murrieta.
The top six players advanced to today’s state championship at Red
Hill Country Club in Rancho Cucamonga.
Draganza, a junior, had two birdies over 18 holes.
The three-time Sea View League individual champion used one putt
on six holes and did not three-putt her entire round. She finished
with 30 putts. “The greens were treacherous,” Newport Harbor Coach
Marianne Towersey said. “A lot of people would have been happy to get
out of there with 36 putts and Natalie had 30.”
Draganza averaged 39.4 strokes per nine holes in the regular
season and has lowered her score to 37.7 in the postseason.
Amber Lundskog from Scripps Ranch shot 66 to win the event.
