South Coast Medical Center announced Wednesday that flu shot clinics
have been canceled.
“The Orange County Health Department notified us Tuesday afternoon
that no vaccine will be available,” South Coast Medical Center
Foundation Program Director Kate Tschudin said. “Orange County is
canceling its flu vaccine program this year.
“We do not even have vaccine for hospital personnel or
volunteers.”
The center had flu clinics for seniors older than 60 scheduled for
Nov. 6 at the hospital and Nov. 15 at the Laguna Beach Senior Center.
“We are encouraging those who are seeking a vaccine to contact
their nearest pharmacy,” hospital infection control nurse Debbie
Mulligan said.
No vaccine was available as of Wednesday at Bushard’s Pharmacy on
Forest Avenue, Laguna Pharmacy on Broadway, Sunset Pharmacy on
Glenneyre Street, Sav-On Drugs in South Laguna and South Coast
Pharmacies on Coast Highway.
Pavilions Drugs had a clinic scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday,
limited to the first 50 in line. Seniors and the chronically ill were
to be given preference.
The Community Clinic received no vaccine this year. Sleepy Hollow
Walk-in Clinic has used up its allotment.
