Alexander DiFonzo, son of Kevin and Susan DiFonzo of Newport Beach,

has been promoted to cadet corporal at St. John’s Military School in

Salina, Kan. Alexander, a junior, is now authorized to wear the

proper insignia ... Newport Beach’s Fred Ameri was elected as

chairman of the board of trustees and the executive board of the

World Affairs Council of Orange County for a second straight term.

Ameri will preside over a 16-member board that shapes council policy

and operations, and he will oversee the board’s membership,

Havens were named Commended Students in the 2005 National Merit
