Newport-Mesa Breakers remain tied for first place

The Newport-Mesa Breakers eighth-grade All-Net basketball team
remained in a tie for first place with two more wins, improving to
9-4.
Newport outlasted Capo Dana, 51-48, in the first game.
Robbie Boyer led the scoring with 14 points and added four
assists. Joe Eberhard tallied 13 points and nine rebounds. Ali
Meshkin added nine points while Kyle Caldwell chipped in six to go
with eight rebounds.
Jamie McGee had five points to go with two points each from
Brandon Boothe and Gus Ellis (eight rebounds).
Corona del Mar resident Stefan Kaluz led Capo with 12 points.
Newport defeated Yorba Linda, 45-38, in the second game.
Eberhard led the scoring with 14 points and added eight rebounds
while Caldwell tallied 10 points, 15 rebounds and three assists.
McGee finished with nine points and two assists while Boyer
tallied six points and three assists.
Meshkin, Ellis and Boothe each had two points.
