Stalking suspect arrested

Police arrested a man suspected of stalking in the area of Alta

Laguna Park.

Terrance Malloy, a 45-year-old Laguna Beach resident, was arrested

at around 6:16 p.m. Feb. 7 on suspicion of stalking a 17-year-old

girl who had a restraining order against him.

Police took Malloy into custody after the girl’s father reported

to police that his daughter saw Malloy following her.

Police would not release other information on the case to protect

the girl’s identity.

Malloy was booked at Laguna Beach City Jail and held on $100,000

bail.

Meth evidence leads to arrests

Two men were arrested on suspicion of manufacturing

methamphetamines after police found evidence during a probation

search.

Adam Thrope, 26, of Aliso Viejo, and 25-year-old Laguna Niguel

resident William Smith were arrested in the 900 block of Pacific

Coast Highway at about 9:43 a.m. Feb. 1.

During the search, an officer found what Sgt. Darin Lenyi

described as a “white crystalline substance.”

The substance was in plain sight, Lenyi said. Police also found

liquids used in the production of methamphetamines, he said.

Police did not discover equipment used to operate a meth lab.

Laguna officer’s dedication honored

Robin Levinson, court liaison officer for the Laguna Police

Department, was named a recipient of the 2003 Branch Court Operations

Outstanding Achievement Awards. She is scheduled to receive the award

in a ceremony at the Orange County district attorney’s office on Feb.

20.

The district attorney’s office gives the award to those who go

“beyond the call of duty.” Levinson, who helps prosecutors prepare

evidence for trial, jokingly said that going beyond the call of duty

for the district attorney’s office means that she “totally bent over

backward to help them.”

Levinson has held a private investigator’s license since 1981, and

is hoping to have four screenplays produced and a novel published.

Citizens on Patrol volunteers honored

Jay Rubin and Monique Daniel have been honored by the Police

Department as Citizens On Patrol Volunteers of the Year.

The police department’s Citizens on Patrol program allows

volunteers to assist all divisions of the police department.

Rubin, who started DFC Enterprises, a software consulting company

in 1981, joined Citizens on Patrol in 2002 and has given more than

1,000 hours to the Police Department. In his work with officers,

Rubin tests alcohol breath- testing equipment and participates in

weekly ride-alongs.

Daniel, a native of Montreal, Canada, moved to Laguna Beach in

1954 and worked as a pharmacist until her retirement in 1984. In her

youth, Daniel toured the United States and Canada as a professional

ice skater. She joined Citizens on Patrol in 2000 and has logged more

than 2,000 hours. She helps out police on car and foot patrols.
