Chargers still No. 1 in polls

The Edison High boys’ soccer team maintained its top spot in the
CIF-Southern Section Division I poll.
The Chargers, voted No. 1 last week, again leads the division
pack.
Sunset League rival Esperanza, which Edison defeated on Feb. 6,
was ranked fifth in the poll.
Edison’s soccer team is one of four local prep teams to be ranked
in various CIF polls.
The latest rankings were released Tuesday.
Edison’s girls’ soccer team was again No. 3 in Division I. The
Chargers trailed No. 1 San Clemente and Sunset League foe Los
Alamitos, which came in at No. 2.
In girls’ basketball, Edison was ranked eighth in the Division
II-AA poll, which was headed by season-long No. 1 Troy.
Marina moved into the top 10 in the boys’ Division I-A rankings at
No. 10. Oxnard was ranked No. 1 in the poll.
The CIF playoffs for all winter sports get underway next week.
