Chargers still No. 1 in polls

The Edison High boys’ soccer team maintained its top spot in the

CIF-Southern Section Division I poll.

The Chargers, voted No. 1 last week, again leads the division

pack.

Sunset League rival Esperanza, which Edison defeated on Feb. 6,

was ranked fifth in the poll.

Edison’s soccer team is one of four local prep teams to be ranked

in various CIF polls.

The latest rankings were released Tuesday.

Edison’s girls’ soccer team was again No. 3 in Division I. The

Chargers trailed No. 1 San Clemente and Sunset League foe Los

Alamitos, which came in at No. 2.

In girls’ basketball, Edison was ranked eighth in the Division

II-AA poll, which was headed by season-long No. 1 Troy.

Marina moved into the top 10 in the boys’ Division I-A rankings at

No. 10. Oxnard was ranked No. 1 in the poll.

The CIF playoffs for all winter sports get underway next week.
