Golden West Water Polo Club registration

The Golden West Water Polo Club is continuing to take registration

for its 10-, 12- and 14-and-under divisions.

The divisions are open to boys and girls grades second through

eighth.

Registration will take place each Tuesday throughout February,

beginning at 6 p.m., at the Golden West College pool.

Grant gets scholarship to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

Gene Grant, a product of Huntington Beach Pop Warner Football who

later played at St. Bonaventure School and Servite High, has accepted

a scholarship to play football at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

He selected the Mustangs, who play NCAA Division I-AA football,

over San Jose State.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Grant was a first team all-Serra League

cornerback and Defensive Player of the Year for the Friars. He had 70

tackles, forced three fumbles, recovered two fumbles, had two

interceptions and set a Servite record by allowing just 61 yards

passing in man coverage for the 2003 season.

The senior also played baseball and is in the track and field

program at Servite.

Grant has been invited to play in the Kiwanis North-South All-Star

Football Game and the Shrine Game, both of which will be played later

this year.
