CITIZEN ACADEMY
The Laguna Beach Police Department is accepting applications for
the eighth Citizen Academy through Feb. 12. The academy is a 12-week
stressless course designed to provide community members with a better
understanding of the department. The topics covered will include the
history of the department, investigations, traffic enforcement,
gangs, narcotics, police K-9, a field trip to the Orange County Jail
and the police firing range. The academy will begin at 6 p.m. Feb.

TIDE POOL JOURNAL WORKSHOP
Laguna Outreach Community Arts will hold a workshop as part of its
weekly Art Escapes program. Led by Jan Sattler, the group will create
a simple field journal while exploring the different sea creatures
and tide pools starting at 2 p.m. The class costs $20, plus $5 for

TUESDAY
NEW YEAR’S EVE AT LAGUNA YOGA
The ceremony will be led by Doreen Virtue and Johnna and Dr.
Steven Farmer from 10 p.m. to midnight. The group will light candles
and chant with visualizations of personal and global peace.
Participants should bring a pillow or blanket to sit on, a percussion
instrument such as a drum or rattle and a symbol of your New Year’s
intentions, such as a photo, drawing, statue, etc. Reservations are
not required but the studio asks everyone to arrive promptly. The
